£2:00 entry You don't have to follow the Christian faith to become a member of the YMCA or use our facilities. Our aim is not to force people to become Christians! But rather to live out our faith in a practical way and reflect the heart of God by providing non-judgemental support, care and hope for the young people in our community. Before you join us though, we would ask that you check out our Aims and Purposes below and respect them. Thank you. YMCA Aims And Purposes
The YMCA is a Christian movement. At its centre are Christians. What is a Christian? Someone who sees Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, and desires to share their faith with others by making Him known, believed, trusted and loved; and who tries to model His ways in all human relationships. The YMCA welcomes people of other religious faiths and of none.
Accordingly the YMCA stands for:
A world-wide movement based on the equal value of all people.
Active concern for the needs of the community.
United effort by Christians of different traditions to make a positive difference in our communities.
The YMCA aims to:
Provide a welcome to members, in a meeting place which is theirs to share, where friendships can be made and guidance sought.
Develop activities which stimulate and challenge its members in an environment that enables them to take responsibility and find a sense of achievement.
Involve all members in care and work for others.
Create opportunities for exchanging views, so that its members can improve their understanding of the world, of themselves, and of one another.
