YOUTH WORK

YOUNG PEOPLE ARE AT THE HEART OF THE WORK OF THE YMCA
 
We want all young people to have the opportunity to fulfil their full potential and we have a long history of providing services that enable young people to grow and develop in every aspect of their lives.
 
YMCA youth workers are qualified and dedicated professionals who work to ensure that every young person feels they have a place to belong, where their voice is heard and where they are valued and respected as individuals.
Our work with young people covers a number of areas and our current programme includes:

YOUTH CAFE and Drop-In @ YMCA 'VENUE'- Basement Cafe EVERY THURSDAY 5pm - 7pm.
( You do not need to be a member to attend the Drop-in) Come and meet your friends and make new friends at Bolton's only youth cafe - run by you and for you.
Stuff to do and snacks at very affordable prices - come and try our very own 'LEGENDARY' toastie (only 40p - bargain!!)
 
Our youth cafe gives young people a fun and social environment to talk to each other over an affordable meal.
 
BOLTON YMCA Detached Youth and Health Project :
 
SKATE PARK OUTREACH - Thursday Evenings
Street based youth work. The project aims to find out how we can better meet young people's needs and provide confidential advice, information and signposting on a wide range of issues from sexual health, drug and alcohol awareness , healthy eating and mental health and wellbeing.
 
MONDAYS 5pm - 7pm - 'NO PAIN NO GAME'
Fitness project using Nintendo Wiis, X-Box 360s and balance and dance boards. Gym, dancing and self-defence sessions included. Cafe open as well.
 
WEDNESDAYS - BLUE SKIES PROJECT
12:00pm till 3:00pm in partnership with Connexions activity and informal learning sessions which form part of young people's Activity Agreements.
 
WEDNESDAYS - Youth Council Meetings @ YMCA
Come and have your say and get involved in running YMCA youth programmes. 5pm to 7pm @ the VENUE youth cafe.
 
FOOTBALL - Thursdays 5pm to 7pm.
for age 13 to 19s - anyone welcome ! Why not try out for one of our five-a -side teams ?

You can get confidential help and advice on a wide range of issues such as education, health, employment, training, mental health, drugs and alcohol information, sexual health, your rights and general activites for young people.
