Countdown To Quinta V.... 11 Weeks!

Quinta is a residential weekend set in Oswestry Wales (on the English/Welsh border), which rewards the youth of Bolton YMCA for their hard work throughout the year, it also offers other young people who need a break or holiday this chance.
Each year there is a secret theme with the weekend being packed with games, activities and crafts and usually ends up with the youth trying to save their mascot from certain peril.
Previous Quinta themes have included Pirates and secret agent style weekends. We have had much support over the years from various funders, volunteers and partners. Quinta has proved to be a real favourite project with staff, volunteers and youth having the time of their lives!

Saw the birth of the YMCA mascot "Lamb chops" Youth enjoyed activities like "capture the sheep", "forefit football" and flag making. The Saturday afternoon saw the YMCA join with the Bolton Methodist circuits for a Highland Games competition.
QUINTA II - Mad Evil Sheep Weekend (29 February - 2 March 2008)
Had a medieval theme, teams had to look after princesses and try their hardest to impress "Queen Ruth". Activities included "Merlins Cooking Pot", Jousting and Crossbows. The Weekend finished with the young people battling trolls for maps to find their teams Dragon Eggs.
QUINTA III - Quinta of Solace (6 - 8th March 2009)
The 3rd Quinta saw Lamb Chops taken hostage by the Russian villain Yerbas Lichi (Chris Bailey). The young people spent the Saturday at "Spy School" where they went "Speed Dating" and cocktail making (non alcoholic). The weekend finished when the young people had to recover keys to the locked crate by completing laser fields and stealing keys off sleeping guards. Unfortunately the youth didn't diffuse the bomb and everyone thought Lamb Chops was lost in the fireworks. The young people then marched up the hill and defeated Yerbus with their water guns, saving Lamb Chops and ending a great Quinta weekend.
QUINTA IV - Silence of the Lamb (5 - 7th March 2010)
The 4th Quinta was done with a pirate theme, "Pirate King Gaz" ruled over the weekend which saw young people try and capture 140 gold coins to save Lamb Chops. Activities like "Cannon Ball Skittles", "Treasure Hunt" and floating "Larry the Lobster" took place. The weekend finished with teams racing through the water balloon gauntlet to find treasure maps buried in the forest. Unfortunately the young people collected 136 coins losing Lamb Chops, who was killed by the Phantom. The weekend finished with a tear jerking letter from Lamb Chops and a new mascot... Stitch!
